Equipment

Preparation of solid shampoo step by step with photos

1st step - Mix the sodium coconut sulfate, jojoba oil and sterilized water in a bowl:

Trick : To obtain sterilized water, boil water.

2nd stage - Place the bowl in a bain-marie:

3nd stage - Let your preparation melt for between 20 and 40 minutes, stirring regularly. The heating time will depend on the thickness of your bowl, and the amount of Sodium Coco Sulfate used:

Please note: : Sodium Coco Sulfate is found in the form of small beads. The preparation is ready when the balls are gone and the dough is homogeneous.

4nd stage - Once the preparation is ready, take the bowl out of the bain-marie. Mix your preparation with a spoon to obtain a homogeneous paste:

Please note: The preparation can be more or less thick depending on the SCS / oil / water ratio you have chosen.

5nd stage - Add to the preparation Cetiol, Rhassoul, essential oil of grapefruit and rice protein:

Trick : 5gr of Rhassoul corresponds to 5 large measuring spoons.

6nd stage - Mix the preparation again to distribute the ingredients well and obtain a homogeneous paste.

Tips and tricks for a successful solid shampoo

  • Have the right measurements. Although there are multiple variations to making your shampoo solid, stick to the minimum and maximum recommended dosages. For this, we advise you to have a precision balance. If you don't have one, don't hesitate to add to your cart -when purchasing raw materials- measuring spoons and a pipette.
  • To be an organized mini. Indeed, you will have to respect the order of the preparation steps and their completion time to avoid, for example, that your shampoo hardens too quickly or that the surfactant does not melt well enough. For this, we advise you to prepare the dosages beforehand so as not to waste too much time between the preparation steps.
  • Allow your solid shampoo to dry sufficiently. The drying time of your solid shampoo is essential. Even if you are impatient to test it, we advise you to respect a minimum of 48 hours of drying time before its first use.
  • Make a strong shampoo that matches your hair type. For your solid shampoo to be successful and therefore give you results, you must first find a recipe adapted to the needs of your hair. The recipe presented above can of course be used for all types of hair, but by adapting the ingredients. You can also choose to make a completely different recipe. In both cases, you can consult our general article on how to make a solid shampoo. You will find a complete guide to all the ingredients you can put in a solid shampoo and 5 recipes. And all this, according to each type of hair.

Finally, above all have fun ! Luckily, making a solid shampoo isn't an exact science. There are many recipes with very different dosages. Once after having read the few rules to know (dosage and ingredients), you can adapt it according to your type of hair (oily, dry, anti-dandruff, curly etc.) and your desires (more or less surfactants, with or without essential oils, with vegetable oils, powders etc.) .
